must! charities builds and funds collaborations with organizations that provide comprehensive and intensive services and yield measurable results.
Potential organizations are screened by must! charities to determine whether they effectively serve those living at or below the poverty line and meet community needs in the North County. Screenings include site visits and interviews, analysis of outcomes and financial data, supplementary research and reference checks.
Submissions are accepted year-round, and final collaboration decisions will be made by the must! charities Executive Board of Directors on a bi-annual basis as funds are available. To be considered for a collaboration with must! charities, please review the qualifications below and complete the form that follows.
who we are looking for
must! charities supports 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organizations in San Luis Obispo's North County Region.
The organization should:
- Show a proven track record with a willingness to create long-term, tangible improvements in their processes and operations through collaboration and teamwork.*
- Have committed staff with strong leadership.
- Possess a broad knowledge and commitment to the local region and the population served
*Programs that do not wish to evaluate the outcomes of their efforts, nor collaborate with other community organizations should not pursue assistance through must! charities.
To stay true to our mission of working with our community, for our community, must! charities can only aid non-profit organizations--not outside funders or individuals. must! charities does not disperse funds to distribute propaganda in an attempt to influence legislation or the outcome of any public election. We will not support any organization that discriminates against people seeking either services or employment based on race, sex, religion, age, sexual orientation, or physical disability.
